Welcome to "A Hearty Home!" (please wipe your feet).
A healthy food and conscientious living blog brought to you by the ever-haphazard minds and fumble-fingers of Team Goodwin; specifically Cherish and Terry Goodwin, and our spawn, Wendy "the Woo-Bug" Goodwin (she won't be blogging though, she's 2 and I don't want those sticky little nose-pickers all over my laptop keyboard).
But fear not, this ain't one of your usual cooking blogs, sprinkled with pretty pictures of culinary perfection and one success story after another. Oh, no! For you see, I'm actually not a very good cook. At all.
But I want to learn. I want to push myself, I want to try new things, I want to screw up so badly I have to throw it in the bin. And sometimes, just occasionally, I'd quite like to cook something that actually tastes good. A win. A good win, you might say. Hyur hyur.
The goals of this particular blog are as follows:
-Healthy, easy-to-cook recipes, and full disclosure of their success or lack thereof.
-Use of exotic or unusual ingredients, and where to find them. I don't know about you, but as a non-driver living in a small English town, I find tracking down many of the exotic ingredients listed so casually in many recipes to be downright hellish.
-Low-guilt food. That is to say, use of locally sourced, organic, completely free-range ingredients wherever possible. This also means low environmental impact; such as vegetarian or vegan dishes, and use of the organ meat and offal that is so often wasted.
-Little tips and ideas about how we can all have greener, more environmentally friendly households, without it becoming a major bind.
-And all this on a low budget.
Oh, and it all has to be toddler-friendly, too.

Hang tight, there's more to come.
Wish us luck!
